Very, very cool, Norman! I looked it up and it was built in 1915 (102 years old!). Originally called the Piney Woods Inn, a pastor bought it in 1955 and changed the name because he heard kids calling it that because it was rundown. The song was probably not written with it in mind though. So cool!

you found more information about it that I did William. I knew it wasn't the original hotel that the song was written about. Hoyt Axton's mother was one of the authors of the song and I understand it, it was given the name because of the feeling, not the original name of the hotel.
